National Finals – Memories made in Stoke!

Gymnasts from Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales, Isle of Man. London, Newcastle, the whole of Great Britain coming together for this prestigious event.

Both Wetherby gymnasts represented Yorkshire to such a high standard.

Sophie led the Yorkshire National grade 3 team from piece to piece, always smart and always there when you were needed.

Ellie delivered her best performances on every single piece. Remarkable belief in yourself at your first national final. Lifting and inspiring the Yorkshire team, to place 35th individually in the whole of Great Britain at National Grade 2.

A brilliant weekend for our 2 Yorkshire gymnasts.

Thank you to all of our supporters, you made it even more special

Copper Classic Challenge Team Championships

The Wetherby Copper senior team just refused to give in. With an injury on Friday night, a reserve had to be pulled in from the audience. Routines were put together in under 30mins! As if that wasn’t enough, one of the team went down with a sickness bug feeling ill til 4am on the day of competition.

Lucy placed a super 9th on vault. Going up first on beam, calm confident, setting the tone for the team such a crucial role, to place 12th on this piece and 17th overall.

Libby performed her first short clear on bars to place an excellent 4th on this piece. Her first flight acrobatic skill on beam and her first B graded somersault on floor. To place 15th overall.

Emily our reserve placed 6th on bars and 3rd on floor. Placing 14th overall with just 30mins preparation. Amazing Emily, your positive approach and ability to adapt under pressure inspired the team.

Martha also placed a super 9th on vault, 11th on bars with her first short clear, fought her nerves to stick her beam. To place 13th overall.

Evie who had been so ill overnight. Placed 5th on vault, sticking her landing. A rock steady 7th on beam, 9th on floor with a quickly adapted routine to manage her exhaustion. So impressed 8th place overall with 3 hours sleep and a upset stomach!

Lulu you were with us every step of the way. Through all the training, worrying about the team after your injury and sending positive vibes and messages on the competition day. You were very much a part of this team.

This team overcame so many hurdles to go home with the bronze medal.

Thank yous

Mrs Nobbs the girls were a credit to you.

Nichola for such excellent multi-tasking during podium training and supporting me.

Sharon for understanding the impact that gymnast injury has on the coach and being an excellent sounding board.

Adam for being on hand to help Lulu to safety.

Angie who made sure Julia and Lulu made it safely to A&E, thank goodness it was only a badly sprained ankle.

To the parents for so much help with equipment, supporting each other when injury struck, checking I was ok late Friday evening and for amazingly never losing your positivity or your nerve through every twist and turn of the weekend.

The first regional team event since 2019, Silver medals, Bronze medals and 6th place are results to be so proud of for team Wetherby.
