Mrs Nobbs – British Gymnastics Volunteer of the Year Finalist.

Announcement from the British Gymnastics website

We are thrilled to unveil the finalists for the British Gymnastics Awards 2025 after receiving a record-breaking number of entries!

Hundreds of inspiring nominations were shared about remarkable individuals, clubs, and organisations across the UK, making it an incredibly tough task for our amazing judges to narrow them down.

Commenting on the finalists, British Gymnastics CEO Sarah Powell said: “The record-breaking number of nominations for the British Gymnastics Awards is a testament to the extraordinary individuals and organisations that make our sport so special. These nominations highlight the incredible dedication and passion that ensure gymnastics remains enjoyable, safe, and accessible to everyone, creating lasting positive impacts for individuals, local communities, and wider society.

“A standout theme this year has been the celebration of those who go above and beyond to deliver uplifting gymnastics experiences, exemplifying our core values: inclusive, supportive, and aspirational.

“To all the finalists, congratulations on this remarkable achievement. Your hard work and commitment inspire us all, and you should be immensely proud of your contributions to our sport.”

Meet our selfless finalists who have been nominated in our Volunteer of the Year category.

This award recognises a British Gymnastics affiliated individual who has given their time to help create an uplifting gymnastics experience for all. This could be in their club or at events or a combination. We’re looking for nominations that showcase the volunteer’s commitment and passion for gymnastics and that role models the values of our sport (inclusive, supportive and aspirational).

Here’s a summary of what their nomination had to say:

Gillian Nobbs

Gill has been a dedicated volunteer for the Yorkshire region for over 30 years, primarily contributing to the setup of equipment at regional competitions across various locations. As a long-time member of the Yorkshire Women’s Technical Committee, she has been instrumental in decision-making that benefits the gymnasts of Yorkshire.

Over the past decade, she has created competition schedules, acted as the region’s event compere, and ensured events ran on time. She takes pride in encouraging gymnasts to present themselves confidently at competitions and has been an invaluable help to coaches, especially when managing young gymnasts.

Gill’s legacy extends beyond her decades of service; her work as a coach, mentor, and mother of two national squad gymnasts shows her commitment to the sport. She has inspired many with her resourcefulness, achieving great results despite limited facilities.
