Bronze Regional Team Championships

What a journey it’s been to this event with so many personal targets achieved.

2 new full twisting vaults.

4 new bar routines including giants for the first time, upstart casts to handstands, toe on toe off to handstand for the first time.

Every gymnast competing new skills or new combinations on beam. Back flics connected to tricky leaps and jumps, crouch spins, change leg leaps, back flic into tuck back somersault landing on the beam and an aerial stuck on the beam.

3 new floor routines with high level choreography, 1 change leg leap with ½ turn, 2 new mixed series, 3 crouch spins, a handspring tuck front somersault, a new full twisting back somersault, a new one and a half twisting back somersault and a double twisting back somersault.

For Libby and Lucy, they have taken a total of 47 GCSE exams leading up to this competition.

The depth in this team is significant, every member playing their part on and off the equipment. Counting 4 scores on each piece, not 3, to be presented with the silver medal. I think it’s fair to say this team Go all out, Potential unleashed!!

Thank you for Nichola for her support in the arena and to Mrs Nobbs for such a smooth and enjoyable event.

Regional Team Championships

Pewter Petite

This team showed such improvement in leg tension and extension on all apparatus. Achieving the highest team score on bars. 3rd on the beam and 3rd on floor. Placing 4th out of 16 teams from across the region missing the bronze medal by 0.1. A frustratingly fantastic result!

Pewter Junior

Despite the temperature in the sports hall, their individual style shone through. With high casts and good body shape they were the 2nd highest scoring team on bars. Performing with fluidity and confidence on beam they achieved 5th placed overall. Well done gymnasts.

Tin Junior

Putting new skills to the test, this team showed such progress. Performing roundoff flics for the first time. Overcoming injury and mentally challenging skills.  Performing upstarts for the first time and with perfect straight arms. Achieving the 2nd highest team score on bars and placing 5th overall. Keep up the good work girls!

Pewter Participation

Entering into the competition arena for the very first time and they were an absolute delight!

Professional, smart, confident, taking everything in their stride and demonstrating such potential for the future. Receiving special Yorkshire rosettes to mark this milestone, well done girls.

Zinc Senior.

A team effort through and through. Every member of the team playing their part. Stepping up on bars performing the forward hip circle for the first time. Excellent on vault with half twist in the first flight scoring higher than a handspring. The team placed 2nd on vault, 2nd on beam and 3rd on floor. Achieving the silver medal overall. Fabulous result ladies!

On behalf of the club, I would like to say thank you to Mrs Nobbs for an event that gave so much to the gymnasts in so many ways.

A thank you to the Pewter petite parents for their loyalty and support with putting the Yorkshire equipment away.

On a personal note, I’m so pleased Sharon was well enough to accompany her gymnasts at their first event, guiding their gymnastics journey from townhall recreational classes into the regional competition arena!

And finally, I would like to recognise the huge support that Nichola provided to the gymnasts and myself personally in the arena. 34 degree heat, 12+hours standing with a perspiration waterfall down our backs and barely a toilet break, throbbing feet, celebrating the highs, boosting the lows, calming the inevitable giggles caused by exhaustion, stress and sleep deprivation. To then get the coaches safely home only to do it all again the next day. Nichola, your volunteering goes above and beyond.

145 Wetherby performances championed in just two days!
