Regional Grades 4 and 3 Yorkshire Championships 2016

Eleanor performed with tension and care to place 2nd on Bars, 2nd on Beam, and Gold medal overall. Passing with Distinction.

Ellie worked hard for the grade and placed 8th overall and passed with Commendation.

Harriet achieved top 6 rankings on virtually all apparatus to pass her regional grade 4 with Distinction.imageFleur placed 4th on Conditioning displaying her excellent flexibility and passed with Commendation.

Bailey demonstrated her ability to perform and think under pressure, strutting her way to 4th place on Floor and passing with Distinction.

Lily placed 5th on Bars with beautiful straight arms and passed with Commendation.

 

 

Level 7 Yorkshire Championships

A day full of smiles and gaining experience.

All Wetherby gymnasts were representing their club for the very first time.

Age 9 and 10

Emily Tucker was extremely nervous but showed determination on the beam fighting every shake and wobble to complete the routine without falling.

Emily Hartley performed with style throughout placing 3rd on bars, 4th on beam and placing 4th overall to receive a beautiful Yorkshire Ribbon.

Olivia Longley performed with confidence and consistency making no large errors on any apparatus. Well done.

Olivia Hostert showed her ability to fly. Performing a powerful straight handspring to place 4th on vault.

Age 7 and 8

All five girls performed with confidence and precision beyond their years.

5 gymnasts, 30 performances, ZERO MISTAKES.

Libby Cree placed 6th overall.

Libby Bailey placed 8th overall.

Sophie Goldsmith placed 13th overall.

Isobel Longley placed 4th on beam.

Ruby Hemingway placed 5th on floor.

Wetherby’s team was the youngest with four gymnasts age 7 and only one 8 year old. Through total consistency the girls achieved the bronze team medal.

It’s true what they say “together everyone achieves more”

Unfortunately due to a calculation error the girls were not presented with their bronze medal at the end of the event.

Level 4 Yorkshire Championships

The girls closed a long weekend with strong performances.

Sophie competed for Wetherby for the first time. Performing her acro series and tuck somi on beam without error. Achieving gold on floor and 4th overall.

Melissa made an excellent return from injury placing 4th on beam and 8th overall.

Ricky competed at level 4 for the first time in Yorkshire. Performing much improved giants and consistently on all apparatus to place 4th overall.

Faith competed at level 4 for the first time. Performing a half twist on floor and winning a silver medal on bars.

F.I.G Yorkshire Championships

The gymnasts had a hard task ahead of them. Competing on the same code as the world championships despite being juniors and with a team member down due to injury, they managed to achieve a team medal.

Lee landed her tsuki vault and was very consistent to place 4th overall

Olivia placed 3rd on bars and 5th overall

Megan performed a new floor routine and placed 5th on floor and vault.

Ellie placed 2nd on vault, 2nd on beam, 2nd on floor to come 2nd overall. Scoring higher than all the seniors.

 

Level 3 Yorkshire Championships

With a very early start to the competition and an injury to one of their team mates the girls had a tough challenge ahead of them. But in true Wetherby style they pulled together to achieve their targets.

Holly performed her Mo on bars for the first time and stuck her beam once again.

Rachel has worked hard to prepare for this competition following her injury in the summer. She caught her Mo on bars and despite a nasty fall on beam finished confidently.

Louise also returning from injury, strutted her way through her floor routine and landed her Tsuki vault.

Emily performed a new floor routine with style and achieved gold on vault with her first pike Tsuki in competition.

Level 6 Yorkshire Championships

Wetherby gymnasts kicked off the weekend performing with smiles and confidence.

Fleur competed for Wetherby for the first time and placed 8th overall.

Molly, Tabitha and Aurora competed roundoff flics and squat on catch the high bar for the first time.

Aurora placed 8th on beam and Tabitha placed 9th on floor.

Lauren had a fantastic day achieving gold on bars, bronze on floor and silver overall.

The Beginners will return, raring to go!

Tuesday the 12th September is the first beginners class of the Autumn term 2017.

I hope all the children had a great summer holiday, and practiced safely!!

Wetherby Clean Sweep!

Yorkshire teams 2014.

On the 22nd November Wetherby Gymnastics Club achieved a clean sweep at the Yorkshire Team Competitions at Catterick Leisure Centre. Wetherby Gymnasts competed in all four levels of competition level 5, Level 4, Level 3 and the top level in gymnastics FIG.  23 Wetherby girls competed across the four pieces of Women’s Artistic Gymnastics, Vault, Bar, Beam and Floor.

Wetherby Gymnastics Club now proudly holds the trophies from each of the four competitions for 2014.

The club has been running for over 40 years and has built a reputation for success under the 4 head coaches in that time. The recently appointed new Head Coach, Eva, a former Wetherby and England gymnast said,

“ I am so proud of the girls and their performances. Wetherby Gymnasts always believe in their determination and desire to perform with heart and soul to the best of their ability. These results demonstrate that the gymnasts continue to build on the history and success of the club. It is a privilege to be able to lead such a dedicated group of gymnasts.”

The results continue to display the club’s position as one of the most successful gymnastics clubs in the region and the girls and coaches are looking forward to a successful 2015.
