National Grades Final – Stoke on Trent – May 2016

Ellie has completed every level in the national grades pathway and represented Yorkshire in the National Grade 1 final.

The Yorkshire team achieved an excellent result placing fourth.

Ellie placed 21st individually making the top half in the country at the highest level national grade.

Only a handful of gymnasts in Yorkshire have completed the national grades pathway. Congratulations Ellie.

Mum’s Bounce, tumble and slide for Wetherby Gymnastics

Five mum’s full of energy took part in the 5K inflatable assault course at Temple Newsom in May of this year.

Faced with 8 giant inflatables, these mum’s were not going to be beaten.

Climbing the 200 foot slide to the finish line and raising £140 for Wetherby Gymnastics.

 

What a fun filled way to support our club.

Wetherby Gymnastics Photo Competition 2016

I’m pleased to announce this years photo competition which is open to all members. This will run until the end of November with the winner(s) to be announced at the Christmas Fun Night.

The theme for this competition is our new club slogan “‘Dedication, Passion and Excellence’”.

Let your imagination and creative skills come to the fore and we are looking forward to seeing your entries.

We are completely open to your interpretation of this theme, although if it’s not obvious how your photo fits the theme do let us know in the caption!

Pictures can be submitted either on our webpage or via our Facebook page.

Pictures have to be taken between 8pm Thursday 18th August and 11pm on Wed 30th November 2016 and must be taken by a Wetherby gymnast or feature a Wetherby gymnast.

Regional Grades 2 and 1 Yorkshire Championships 2016

Matilda worked hard to get back from both a foot fracture and knee injury to place 3rd on Vault, 2nd on Bars, 3rd on Conditioning and passed with Commendation.

Faith’s performance was cool and calm to place 1st on Bars, 1st on Beam and achieving the Silver medal overall passing with Distinction.

Isabelle took the competition by storm, placing 1st on virtually all apparatus and achieving the Gold medal overall passing with Distinction.

Melissa worked hard to prepare for the grade despite the stress of GCSE’s to place 1st on conditioning and passed with Commendation.

Louise had a tough time on beam but she didn’t let this stop her, placing 1st on Vault, 1st on Floor and achieving the silver medal overall. Passing with Commendation.

Lauren took on the challenge of this grade to place 1st on Bars and achieve the bronze medal overall. Passing with Commendation.

Ricky had a fabulous day having watched her sister perform without error the day before she just followed in the family style. Placing 1st on Bars, 1st on Beam and achieving the Gold medal overall. Passing with Commendation.

National Grades Yorkshire Championships 2016

National Grade 1

Ellie got the weekend started with an almost perfect landing on her piked tsukahara, fighting hard to perform her bar routine without a major error, calm and precise on beam and charming on floor.

Ellie achieved 2nd on Vault, 1st on Beam and the Bronze medal overall. Ellie qualified to represent Yorkshire in the National Grades final later this month.

 

National Grade 2

Lee wrestled with a few demons in preparation for this competition. The hard work and determination certainly paid off, performing cleanly with beautiful style to place 2nd on Bars, 2nd on Conditioning , achieving 5th place overall.

National Grade 3

Megan passed her grade and wowed the judges with her outstanding power on vault, placing 1st on this apparatus.

Rachel performed with precision to pass her national grade with the almost impossible rating of Distinction. Placing 3rd on vault and 7th overall. Excellent result Rachel.

 

 

 

Regional Grades 4 and 3 Yorkshire Championships 2016

Eleanor performed with tension and care to place 2nd on Bars, 2nd on Beam, and Gold medal overall. Passing with Distinction.

Ellie worked hard for the grade and placed 8th overall and passed with Commendation.

Harriet achieved top 6 rankings on virtually all apparatus to pass her regional grade 4 with Distinction.imageFleur placed 4th on Conditioning displaying her excellent flexibility and passed with Commendation.

Bailey demonstrated her ability to perform and think under pressure, strutting her way to 4th place on Floor and passing with Distinction.

Lily placed 5th on Bars with beautiful straight arms and passed with Commendation.

 

 

Level 5 Yorkshire Championships

The last competition of 2015 was full of personal targets with all Wetherby gymnasts competing at level 5 for the very first time.

Lily Pritchard performed with maturity and tension to place 5th on vault and 5th overall receiving a beautiful Yorkshire ribbon.

Ellie Bailey strutted her way through her floor routine performing with individual style to place 12th overall.

Eleanor Pearce-Burton performed her somersaults on floor and upstart on bars for the very first time.

Harriet Robson stuck her Flic on beam and flew over the vault to place 9th overall and 1st on vault.

As a team, with all scores counting, the girls achieved 6th place.

Level 7 Yorkshire Championships

A day full of smiles and gaining experience.

All Wetherby gymnasts were representing their club for the very first time.

Age 9 and 10

Emily Tucker was extremely nervous but showed determination on the beam fighting every shake and wobble to complete the routine without falling.

Emily Hartley performed with style throughout placing 3rd on bars, 4th on beam and placing 4th overall to receive a beautiful Yorkshire Ribbon.

Olivia Longley performed with confidence and consistency making no large errors on any apparatus. Well done.

Olivia Hostert showed her ability to fly. Performing a powerful straight handspring to place 4th on vault.

Age 7 and 8

All five girls performed with confidence and precision beyond their years.

5 gymnasts, 30 performances, ZERO MISTAKES.

Libby Cree placed 6th overall.

Libby Bailey placed 8th overall.

Sophie Goldsmith placed 13th overall.

Isobel Longley placed 4th on beam.

Ruby Hemingway placed 5th on floor.

Wetherby’s team was the youngest with four gymnasts age 7 and only one 8 year old. Through total consistency the girls achieved the bronze team medal.

It’s true what they say “together everyone achieves more”

Unfortunately due to a calculation error the girls were not presented with their bronze medal at the end of the event.

Level 4 Yorkshire Championships

The girls closed a long weekend with strong performances.

Sophie competed for Wetherby for the first time. Performing her acro series and tuck somi on beam without error. Achieving gold on floor and 4th overall.

Melissa made an excellent return from injury placing 4th on beam and 8th overall.

Ricky competed at level 4 for the first time in Yorkshire. Performing much improved giants and consistently on all apparatus to place 4th overall.

Faith competed at level 4 for the first time. Performing a half twist on floor and winning a silver medal on bars.

F.I.G Yorkshire Championships

The gymnasts had a hard task ahead of them. Competing on the same code as the world championships despite being juniors and with a team member down due to injury, they managed to achieve a team medal.
