I am thrilled to announce that for the first time in the club’s history
Wetherby gymnasts achieved Alpha Factor team gold.
537 gymnasts from all over Great Britain and the USA competed in this prestigious 3 day event.
The club was represented by 7 gymnasts at level 4.
For 3 of the level 4 gymnasts it was their first alpha factor experience and below is what they thought of the event
The level 3 gymnasts started their competition on beam. Performing somersaults on the beam for the first time and sticking them!. Having controlled their adrenaline on the first piece the girls continued to perform with style and confidence.
Achieving the following individual results:
Ellie Clark – Level 3 senior overall champion
Megan Parsley – 5th place overall.
Lee Beecher – 6th place overall.
Olivia competed clean routines on all apparatus despite a badly bruised foot and Alex contributed top scores on Bars and Floor.
At the end of the event the girls were announced as Level 3 Alpha Factor team champions and were presented on the podium with gold medals.
Louise Akers represented Wetherby in the level 2 in-age competition. Louise also stuck her first somersault on beam to achieve 3rd place overall.
On behalf of Wetherby gymnastics club I would like to thank Sharon Parrett.
Sharon achieve the following individual results:
22 hours of judging,
Drove 484 miles
and Deducted 3 “E” graded somersaults
(double straight, full in back out and double arabian)
Without your dedication 13 Wetherby gymnasts would not have had the opportunity to
“be there and get the green t-shirt”
